Italian Egg Rolls with Spicy Sausage & Fontina

Filled with spicy sausage and creamy Fontina cheese sauce, these Italian-style Egg Rolls are sure to win over all of your hungry party-goers. Serve sprinkled with rich, nutty Parmesan alongside our fresh-tomato Marinara Sauce.

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown sausage and pork. Drain fat.
  • Meanwhile, in another skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn. Slowly whisk in warm milk.
  • Once mixture thickens and begins to bubble, turn off heat. Add grated cheese. Stir until cheese is melted and forms sauce. Add sausage mixture to the cheese sauce. Stir.
  • In a large, deep frying pot, heat vegetable oil to 375˚F (or medium-high heat).
  • Meanwhile, lay out egg roll wrapper with corner pointed toward you. Place about 1/3 cup of meat and cheese mixture in center of wrapper. Fold left and right corners toward the center and continue to roll. Brush a small amount of water on the final corner to seal egg roll. Continue process with remaining egg roll wrappers.
  • Using tongs, place egg rolls in frying pot and fry until golden brown, turning occasionally. Fry in batches.
  • Place fried egg rolls on paper-towel-lined plate. Serve sprinkled with grated Parmesan alongside warmed Pomodoro Fresco Marinara.
